There are two charging methods for new energy cars: AC charging and DC charging, so there are also AC charging piles and DC charging piles. There is a big gap between AC charging pile and DC charging pile in current, voltage and other technical parameters. The former has low charging efficiency, while the latter has high charging efficiency. Generally speaking, "slow charge" basically uses AC charging, while "fast charge" mostly uses DC charging. Ac charging piles are fixed in community parking lots, residential areas, shopping malls, service areas, roadside parking lots and other places, and connected to the power grid, for the new energy car on-board power supplement equipment to supply controllable one-way AC power or three-phase AC power supply devices. Ac charging pile itself does not have charging function. It only supplies power output. It also needs to be connected to the new energy car on-board power supplement equipment to charge the new energy car battery.
Because the power of on-board electric supplementary equipment of new energy cars is generally small, AC charging piles cannot achieve fast charging. Ac new energy car charging pile, commonly known as "slow charge", is a power supply device that is fixed on the outside of the new energy car and connected to the AC power grid to supply AC power to the on-board power supplementary equipment of the new energy car (that is, the power supplementary equipment fixed on the electric vehicle). Ac charging pile only supply power output, does not have charging function.
It needs to connect the on-board power supplement equipment to charge the new energy car. It acts as a control power source. Ac charging piles have low power and are suitable for applications that are not sensitive to charging time requirements. Usually, the charging time is about 7-10 hours. Common AC charging piles are floor type, wall mounted and portable. Portable can be simply understood as a plug, one end is inserted into a household socket, and the other end is inserted into a new energy car charging port. After use, it can be placed directly in the trunk. It can be used where there is an outlet. The AC charging pile is small in size, simple to install, and the corresponding cost is relatively low.
Suitable for public parking, free gifts, residential properties, commercial areas, hotel underground garage and other places. In short, AC charging piles need to be charged using on-board power supplementary equipment, while DC fast-charging piles do not need this equipment. There is a big difference in charging speed between the two. Pure new energy cars (ordinary battery capacity) need 8 hours to be fully charged by AC charging pile, and only 2 to 3 hours to be fully charged by DC fast charging pile.
AC charging pile provides power input for electric vehicle power supplement equipment. Due to the small power of the on-board power supplement device, fast charging cannot be achieved. Dc fast charging pile is a power supply device fixed on the outside of the new energy car and connected to the AC power grid, which can supply direct current to the power battery of the non-vehicle new energy car.
The DC charging pile can supply sufficient power, and the output voltage and current can be adjusted in a wide range, which can meet the requirements of fast charging.
